For the past couple of years, readers have been treated to a variety of weekly columns submitted by local residents who are part of a group of community columnists.

The writers submit monthly columns about a broad range of subjects that have included music, history, education, ways to save money, life as a baby boomer and stay-at-home mom, as well as opinions on various local issues.

Now, the E-T is searching for its next group of contributing writers to begin a six-month stint in October.

If you think you've got what it takes to be a community columnist, simply send two writing samples to news@empiretribune.com. Please include a cover letter explaining what the columns will focus on and why you should be considered for the group.

Columns should not exceed 500 words and must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.

A committee will review the writing samples and select the group, which will be announced in the Sunday, Sept. 30, edition of the Empire-Tribune.
