Stephenville's offense scored fast and often as the Yellow Jackets found the end zone eight times and allowed only two scores in their final scrimmage against Granbury at Tarleton Memorial Stadium.

The Jackets open their first season in Class 3A next week when they host 11-time Mexican national champion Monterrey Tec.

All the primary offensive weapons got involved with senior quarterback Tyler Jones firing three touchdowns - two to Brice Gunter and one to Jarrett Stidham. Jones was 16-23 passing including 6-9 during the one-half game situation and 10-14 in the controlled phase of the scrimmage.

Stidham moved to quarterback with the second team offense and passed for two touchdowns and rushed for one.

Witt Westbrook had two touchdowns in the game simulation, and Alex Sanchez had a 50-plus yard catch-and-run to set up a touchdown in the controlled phase.

Stephenville's starting defense was dominant early but allowed chunks of yardage on the ground as the night went on. But Granbury's only controlled-phase score came on a pass play with the second-team units on the field, and the Pirates scored once the ground in the game simulation.

Stephenville completed scrimmage play having outscored opponents 13 touchdowns to three, and junior kicker Luis Garcia also added a field goal each week. He connected from 47 yards near the end of Friday's scrimmage.

Stephenville and Monterrey Tec kickoff at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
