Sunday is going to be a big day for Tarleton State University, which will begin the process of moving an estimated 1,700 freshmen into student housing.
With so many students and their families expected to be in the area, traffic surrounding the campus Sunday is expected to be slow.
"There will be very limited access to McIlhaney Street between Washington and Vanderbilt," Police Chief Patrick Bridges said. "Motorists should consider taking alternate routes."
Bridges said additional congestion is expected on Tarleton Street from Ollie to the campus.
Tarleton officials said off-duty officers will direct traffic, and bollards on Lillian Street will be temporarily removed to facilitate access to dorms on that side of campus.
Tarleton is staggering the move in times to help with the process, which begins about 7:30 a.m. and will last throughout the afternoon.
