Erath County United Way is preparing for one of its biggest events of the year - the annual fish fry at Stephenville City Park.
The event will take place from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, under the large pavilion at Stephenville City Park.
The fish will be prepared by the ones who do it best - the Knights of Columbus - and the dinner will include cole slaw, hush puppies, beans and iced tea and water.
Local praise and worship bands from area churches will provide entertainment.
ECUW Executive Director Aileen Truax said the event is the beginning of the organization's fall fundraising campaign.
“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the volunteer chefs from the Knights of Columbus, we are able to provide an affordable, fun evening for the community,” Truax said. “All proceeds will go toward helping the United Way meet our campaign goal of $275,000.”
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-10. Children under 5 eat free.
Money raised during last year’s campaign is now helping fund 19 local non-profit agencies that directly serve more than 21,000 residents of Erath County. These agencies help feed the hungry, mentor youth, provide healthcare to the underinsured, care for disabled veterans, counsel crime victims and improve the quality of life for senior citizens.
