A woman known for selling illegal narcotics was arrested Thursday by Stephenville police.

Lauren Hardin was taken into custody after she was found with about an ounce of methamphetamine hidden in her clothing following a routine traffic stop, according to Chief Patrick Bridges.

"She has a reputation for trafficking illegal narcotics," Bridges said.

When Hardin refused Officer Jason Schipper's request for consent to search, he called the Erath County Sheriff's Office to request a canine.

"The dog initially alerted to (Hardin) and then to the passenger side of the vehicle," Schipper said.

After additional questioning, Hardin pulled out the methamphetamine and other prescription drugs from her undergarments.

Police also found baggies and a scale inside her vehicle.

"Her intent was clearly to sell," Schipper said.

Hardin was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, a first degree felony.

A passenger, Veronica Ramos, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Bond for Hardin had not been set at press time.
