Ouida Finch Peterson received the insurance industry’s highest award posthumously from the National Association of Health Underwriters at a ceremony held at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas in June. Ouida was chosen from over 40 candidates as this year’s Harold R. Gordon Award recipient.

Ouida died at home in Huckabay on Nov. 23, 2011. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huckabay, a member of their music team, and also a member of the Domino Players in Huckabay.

“This year’s Gordon recipient’s contribution to the insurance industry is difficult to match," said John Nelson, a previous recipient. "She has a long list of awards: The Donna Carnall Career Achievement Award, the Outstanding Texan of the Year Award and the Hollis Roberson Award. She was the first recipient of the William Wetzel Excellence in Public Speaking.”
