The season of spring might get the national nod for household cleanup time, but here in the feverish heat of Texas summer, the very thought of a cool breeze from the north energizes the sprucing spirit, thus making pre-fall clean out an auspicious time to organize the household.

The city of Stephenville has partnered with Fort Worth to make the elimination of some hazardous waste a bit less arduous by conducting the annual Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection Event.

The event will take place from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday at the Municipal Service Center located at 1201 Glen Rose Hwy.

It is important for those participating to collect a disposal voucher to present at the time of the drop off of refuse. Vouchers can be acquired at City Hall.

Acceptable waste will include: Acid, aerosol cans, all batteries, antifreeze, brake fluid, craft chemicals, hobby chemicals, degreasers, drain cleaners, fertilizer, fluorescent lights, herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, paints/stains, paint thinners, pest strips, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, oil filters, solvents, transmission fluid and varnishes.

Items not accepted include ammunition, propane or butane bottles, explosives, medical waste, smoke detectors, tires and waste generated by businesses.
