Thursday's short but powerful storm that ripped through Erath County did little to relieve the month's rain deficit.

Stephenville received .47 of an inch of rain Thursday, bringing the total for the week to .78 of an inch, according to local weather watcher Dr. Stuart Chilton.

"May's total is 2.25 inches, which compares with an average May total of 4.70 inches for a deficit of 2.45 inches," Chilton said. "May and April registered below average rainfall, while January, February and March were above average."

Total rainfall for the year is 20.31 inches, which is 6.31 inches above the five-month average of 14 inches.

Stephenville's average rainfall in June is 3.40 inches.
