Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose need volunteer tour guides this summer.
Tour guides receive short training classes that explain the history of Fossil Rim, the goals and objectives of the foundation and learn about the species that live there.
Tour guides plan their own schedule, and each person volunteers to realize their own rewards. For most, just being there and working to assure a future for the animals is the greatest reward. For others, it can be the discounts, making new friends, gift certificates, earning lodge points or hanging out at the children’s animal center.
In 2011, the not-for-profit organization had two new baby giraffes and a baby rhino born at the park. The rhino baby was from the oldest rhino mother on record . The volunteers were the first to be able to visit the proud mother and baby in the rhino compound and receive training on how to show the baby on special tours.
