Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant won handily Tuesday in his bid for re-election, beating challenger Cody Beam with nearly 72% of the vote.
"I'm extremely honored by the support I have received," Bryant said. "I'm excited to be able to continue to protect and serve the citizens of Erath County. Now, I plan to reach the 28 percent of those who didn't vote for me to see what they think I can do better."
This was Beam's first run for political office. He is a Tarleton State University police officer and former sheriff's deputy.
Beam could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Incumbents in other law enforcement races were also re-elected to another term.
Pct. 2 Constable Lee Roy Gaitan received 66% while his challenger Bobby Mendez received 34%. Constable Larry Ciccarelli, pct. 1, 3 and 4, received 53% while his challenger Frank Baker received 47%.
