Hurrah for Morgan Mill!

It is time in Morgan Mill to slow down and take it easy. The summer camp schedule starts with Girls Adventure Camp for girls third through sixth grade from June 4-8 in Brownwood. GA mini camp is June 29–30 in Brownwood. July 9 -14 is the youth camp in Glorieta, New Mexico. The Morgan Mill Baptist will be having their Vacation Bible School from July 23–27. The Boys Adventure Camp will be July 30–Aug. 3. The Morgan Mill Methodist will be having their Operation Overboard Vacation Bible School from July 30–Aug. 1 in the Morgan Mill Community Center. The kids will be having fundraisers to help finance these camps so watch for these events so you can help.

The next Senior Citizens meeting is June 7 with Superintendent Dean Edwards as the speaker. His presentation is both entertaining and informative. Come at 6:30 and bring your favorite pot luck dish. Home grown veggies will be appearing soon at the dinners. June 21 meeting will be Connie Veldhuzen will return with her cheeses. Connie makes a variety of her own cheeses. The meetings in July will include our own Anna Watson’s Fourth of July program on the fifth. She always has a variety of patriotic entertainers. We will look forward to that program. July 19 will be Dan Devivo with his Elvis impersonation. If you missed this program earlier, you will need to be sure to mark this date on your calendar.

Remember breakfast each second Saturday during the summer. June 9 is waffle time. John and Sandy Sandstrom joined with the regular crew to spice up the traditional menu with homemade waffles. This is always a special addition to our regular menu of eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and hash browns. Remember this the way that we pay the monthly bills for the Community Center and come and enjoy. Starting at 7-9 p.m. come and eat in Morgan Mill.

Voting on Tuesday will be at the Community Center. Both parties and both precincts will be sharing the same facilities.

Our volunteer fire fighters want you to be careful with your burn piles. We have already had several grass fires in our community. If you have not noticed, the new addition to the fire station is under roof and the guys are adding the walls. We will be looking for an open house later this summer.

This will be the last “Milling Around” for the summer. Have a safe summer. This column will return in August.
