Police are searching for a former Stephenville Yellow Jacket football player and member of Huston Academy Class of 2012.

Stephenville resident John "Russell" Cole, Jr., 19, is charged with three counts of assault with bodily injury and interfering with an emergency call, according to Lt. Doug McClammy.

Cole allegedly assaulted his half-brother, Joshua Lloyd Peery, 23, also of Stephenville, twice in two days.

"At 1:49 p.m. Sunday, the police department received a call in reference to a fight in progress in the 700 block of West Green Street," McClammy said. "A friend was calling 911 from her cellphone when Cole grabbed her and took the phone away."

Cole reportedly fled the scene prior to officers arriving and could not be located.

Three arrest warrants - for assault with bodily injury/family violence, assault with bodily injury, and interference with a 911 call - were issued following the incident.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the scene again.

"Officers learned that Cole had (again) assaulted Peery. The victim told officers Cole hit him with what appeared to be a baseball bat," McClammy said. "Peery was transported to the hospital by Stephenville EMS."

Cole fled the scene again and another warrant for assault with bodily injury/family violence was issued.

Erath County Crime Stoppers and police are asking for help in locating Cole.

"Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to his arrest," McClammy said.
