3 - Hit Hico's steak cookoff

The 9th Annual Texas Steak Cookoff will have the streets of downtown Hico smoking beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family-friendly event offers artisan vendors, local shopping and a chance to see backyard chefs from across the Southwest compete to see who can grill up the best ribeye. Your $25 ticket includes sampling of hors d'oeuvres, a 12-oz rib-eye dinner with all the fixings and chance to win an array of door prizes.

4 - Meet the artist

The Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council will host a reception for featured artist Lilly Lovell from 6-8 p..m. Saturday. The River North Gallery is located at 204 River North Boulevard in Stephenville.

5 - Take in Pure Country

KEQX 89.7 Pure Country will host its third annual Music Fest Concert and Dance beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rio Brazos Music Hall in Granbury. Durwood Strube, Landon Dodd, Curtis Potter and many more artists will perform on the outdoor stage. Food, drinks, a dance floor and plenty of shade will be available. Advance tickets are $15 or they may be purchased at the gate for $20. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Happy Hill Farm Academy's Equestrian Center.
