Tarleton State was searching for a sprinter. Jordan Jones was looking for a place to run.

The Stephenville senior and two-time regional qualifier signed his letter of intent to sprint for Tarleton Monday morning at Stephenville High School.

Jones won the title of "Fastest Man in 8-4A" when he captured the district championship in the 100 meter dash as a junior last spring. He was the runner-up in the event this season.

Jones also has relay experience, having qualified for regionals in the 4x100 as a junior and the 4x200 as a senior.

The speedster started at linebacker for Stephenville's state quarterfinal football team last fall and is a courtesy runner for the Yellow Jacket baseball team that faces Cleburne in the regional quarterfinals this weekend.
