Hurrah for Morgan Mill!
Happy Mother’s Day. The month of May is busy around the school. Tuesday, May 15, is the MM Sports Banquet at the Community Center. Thursday, May 17, is the annual field trip. This year they are going to Austin. Superintendent Edwards said Gov. Perry is scheduled to talk to them. Friday, May 18, the PTF is going to take the school to Splashville. The Spring Music Concert with the choir and bands will be Monday, May 21, and graduation is on Thursday, May 24.
The word is out, Katie Pierce is valedictorian. She has been a Morgan Mill student since kindergarten. She said that she has seen a lot of students come and go in her years in Morgan Mill. There are three of the nine students graduating that started with her. Her best grades are in English, History, and Math. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Kimple and Mrs. Burns. Her sad moments at Morgan Mill were when Mrs. Burton and Mrs. Quarles retired. One of the events that she will not forget is the time the Tarleton girls’ basketball team came to watch her play basketball. This summer she will be attending band camp and basketball camp for Stephenville High School. She has been active in Morgan Mill playing basketball for three years, track for two years, band for three years, drill team for three years, and 8th grade cheerleader. I will miss her giggles and expect to see great things out of her in Stephenville.
Salutatorian is Isaac Lingle. He has also attended Morgan Mill since kindergarten. Art and computers are his best grades. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Kimple. He thinks that he will miss his lunch breaks when he goes to high school. Isaac is looking forward to playing soccer in Stephenville and wants to be a flag runner. He will be spending some of his summer days in camp. He has played the saxophone in the Morgan Mill band and played football, basketball, and track. Good luck to a deserving young man.
Thursday, May 17, is Community Supper and Senior Citizens night at 6:30. The Stephenville High School seniors, who also graduated four years ago from Morgan Mill, will be in attendance. It has become a tradition for the Morgan Mill Arts and Crafts Association to present the MM graduating seniors from Stephenville $100. This year, Brayden Coverdale, Casey Dawson, Michael Day, Matt Minix, Casey Reagan and James Stanphill will graduate. Bring your favorite potluck dish and see how our young boys matured into fine young men.
