Stephenville scored five times in the fifth, wiping out a 2-0 deficit on its way to a 6-2 victory in Game 2 of a 4A Region I bi-district baseball series at James T. Young Field Saturday afternoon.
Game 2 of the now even series ended it 2:50 with Game 3 expected to start between 3:20 and 3:30. The winner faces Aledo or Fort Worth Southwest in next weekend's area round.
Trent Morrison walked with the bases loaded to bring in Stephenville's first run, and a shingle to right by his freshman brother Brock Morrison evened the score at 2-2.
The Yellow Jackets were on top for good moments later thanks to Chase Varnado's RBI on a fielder's choice that stood as the game winner. There was an error on the play that left the bases loaded, and two runs scored when Connor Washington hit into an error on the very next pitch.
Trent Morrison's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth gave the game its final tally.
Senior Brian Picha went the distance on the hill for Stephenville, allowing only five hits. He struck out four and walked two. At the plate, Picha went 3-4 with a sac bunt after going 3-5 at Summit Thursday.
Summit won Game 1 3-2 in 12 innings that night and Game 2 was postponed due to lightning Friday night.
