Bob Newby's column on his introduction to yoga was a welcomed endorsement of yoga for men, "real" and otherwise. As a local yoga teacher, I am always pleased when others discover the benefits of yoga. However, his yoga experience of "Plank, Hover, Cobra" repeated five times is not a necessary sequence for those of us who are not athletes or life-long runners. Other kinder, gentler forms of yoga can be just as effective at increasing strength, balance and flexibility without such strenuous sequences (though perhaps not as "macho"). Yoga has as many styles as there are teachers, with several here in Stephenville. Those who are interested should shop around to find one that suits their abilities and interests.
Thanks again for entertaining and informing us with community columnists, especially the articulate 11-year-old writer.
